What We Do

Counseling

All licensed and certified counselors are handpicked based on cultural competence and specific modalities trained for complex trauma. All counselors assist in not only complex trauma, but anxiety, depression, couples/spouse, and chemical dependency. Most of the 3FTL referral counselors have a direct bloodline in their family tree to fire, police, or EMS. These counselors are specifically placed throughout north Texas and are matched with 3FTL clients based on their needs and their location.

Therapy

  • EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

  • ETT (Emotional Transformational Therapy)

  • CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy)

  • ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy)

  • Neurofeedback

  • DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)

Medical Management

3FTL approaches medicine as a temporary stabilization to the underlying issue. Our medical staff work together to tailor medication specific to each individual needs. Each client in the 3FTL program will see the medical staff weekly. Medical management begins with a complete blood panel, targeting hormone and thyroid levels. Next our psychiatric director, Karah Brashier, will evaluate each client to determine appropriate medication to treat the symptoms being presented. Medication is not a requirement of 3FTL, however, if decided upon, it is monitored and evaluated on a weekly basis.

Case Management

Accountability is key; mental health and change moves slow. As humans, we want something and expect change quickly, but this process and change does not happen quickly. Case management assists not only in the accountability, making sure you stay on the path as directed, but also coordinates every aspect of your mental health journey - outpatient, inpatient, residential, and provides you with a detailed treatment plan. Case management is the liaison between every piece of your treatment team and gives you full access to your clinical and medical staff.

Peer Support

The purpose of Peer Support is to provide all first responders with a comfortable and confidential space where it becomes possible to engage in open discussion about life’s challenges and other issues that may be preventing them from experiencing daily life’s fullest potential.

A first responder may be challenged by illness, grief from loss, emotional or financial strains, relationship difficulties, addiction, mental and physical strain from being a first responder. Our ultimate purpose is to save lives through a coordinated and compassionate approach of repairing marriages and broken relationships, breaking addictions, and restoring the mental health of all first responders.

614

The purpose of the 614 Program is to provide health and healing from alcohol or substance abuse or addiction. This 8 week program is a small group format where members can identify and discuss their addiction in a safe and structured environment. Discussions are moderated by an approved leader that has been trained specifically for this group. Each group member will be able to identify, acknowledge, and surrender to their struggles while learning the cause of their behavior. The goal is to provide coping skills, accountability, honesty, encouragement for each member as they structure their daily activities to live a clean and sober life in a healthy way.

Home Team

The First Responder Home Team program was created exclusively to build a safe place for first responder partners (wife, husband, girlfriend, boyfriend, or domestic partner) - my Homies - to navigate their struggles, celebrate their victories, and share their wisdom.

This private community is assembled to help Homies understand what your first responder is experiencing during their 3FTL treatment, and how you can best help them. Your openness and vulnerability will be held in strict confidence within our small circle of people who “get it”.

We combine an irreverent atmosphere where you can be candid with your thoughts, along with decades of real-life first responder partner’s experience.

Family Services

The 3FTL family services include customized counseling and medication management for first responder spouses and children. Each treatment is designed based on individual needs. The first responder does not have to be participating in 3FTL treatment for the spouses or children to be involved in the family services program.

K-9 Therapy Support

Jester joined 3FTL as the company service dog, who works daily with Jennifer, his mommy, and handler, assisting her with loving first responders. Jester was donated to 3FTL from Patriot Paws after they noticed he was born to make people smile. Jester has an unbelievable ability to detect an increase in emotions, specifically anxiety, and will give all his love to the first responders that need him in their most vulnerable times, specifically when speaking about their trauma. Jester loves to love and will do any trick, especially saying his prayers, if a treat is waiting on him after he says amen.
