<image:title>Letter From Bill - I was now dealing with the shame of my thoughts and actions. I had to tell someone what I was going through, what I experienced that night in the closet. I had to be vulnerable and ask for help. I reached out to a friend in the department who I knew would be able to get me the assistance I needed. He got me in contact with Jennifer Halley. She went through a life altering traumatic event that caused her to realize there was a need for a program that helped people with PTSD.</image:title>

<image:title>Meet Adria - Adria Butcher</image:title>
<image:caption>Adria is a marketing and communications professional who moved from Louisiana’s Cajun country to the Dallas area more than 25 years ago. Her professional career has been defined by versatility and excellence, beginning her journey as a producer before following a calling to education. Adria dedicated the majority of her education tenure at Prosper High School as the English Department Chair and was named Secondary Teacher of the Year in 2016. Returning to corporate, Adria has spent the last decade at a leading technology company, where she’s spanned corporate and executive communications, as well as digital and field marketing. Her commitment to integrity and client focus earned her multiple department honors, including the highest Marketing Excellence Award. Adria owns The Bespoken Avant, a color analysis and image consulting business, and with her husband, co-owns OT Sport Ops, a sports technology company. She holds a B.A. in Mass Communications (cum laude) from Nicholls State University and an M.A. in English (summa cum laude) from Texas A&M at Commerce. Adria has been married to her college sweetheart, Eric, for more than 25 years, and they have one son, Dax. “The very first time I met Jennifer, she told me about 3FTL, and immediately, I knew I wanted to be involved. Her passion was personal and evident, and it was clear we aligned on how much they deserve help when they need it – it’s the least we can do since they show up for us when we need it most. I’m reminded of the quote from Mister Rogers: “When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'" I can cite several personal experiences where me or my family have been directly impacted by their care and vigilance – the true helpers of our community. They are the ones who are willing to sacrifice it all for strangers, and in turn, they deserve whatever support is needed to heal for themselves and their loved ones. God calls us to serve, and I’m honored and humbled to be a part of this vital organization.”</image:caption>

<image:title>Meet Marcy - Marcy Henson</image:title>
<image:caption>Dr. Marcy Henson is a Family Nurse Practitioner that is Board Certified through the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She received her Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama in 2018 and graduated summa um laude with her Master's of Science as a Family Nurse Practitioner from TWU in 2007. She began her career as a Registered Nurse in 1995 as a Trauma ICU Nurse. She is a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, Texas Nurse Practitioner Association, and the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Marcy is on the Board of Directors for Cornerstone North Central Texas. She also serves as President of the Board for Family Focused Care Medical Clinic and Health Fusion of Texas Medical Spa. Marcy also taught as an Adjunct Faculty Member at TWU in the Master's of Science Family Nurse Practitioner program from 2011-2014. She has completed disaster relief training in Collin County and served as a member of the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Team. Marcy has received many awards and recognitions during her healthcare career including the Presidential Award for Outstanding Contribution to a College and the Texas House of Representatives Award for Outstanding Contribution to a College. Marcy was a member of the Emergency Medical Team in 2000 for the U.S. Olympic Triathlon Trials in Dallas. Marcy was a recipient of the North Texas Nurse Practitioner Scholarship in 2007 and has been a nominee twice for Prosper Person of the Year. I was excited to help Jennifer and Brain Halley with 3FTL when they started the program in 2018. I strongly believe that we need to do more to support our first responders. Having started my nursing career in trauma, I am brutally aware of the types of things first responders see that they cannot unsee, and after treating patients for anxiety, depression, and PTSD as a Nurse Practitioner over the last 13 years, I understand how these things can effect every aspect of their lives. I am honored to assistance Jennifer and Brian in any way that I can and help make a difference in the lives of first responders in our community! “I am honored to be a part of 3FTL’s mission of providing care to our first responders and to have the opportunity to give back to the brave men and women who put their lives on the line each and every day serving our communities. My goal is to help save every first responder from the trauma of the things they have seen that they cannot unsee.”</image:caption>

<image:title>Meet Brian - Brian Halley</image:title>
<image:caption>Brian has been involved in Fire and EMS since 1998. He began his career as a paramedic and volunteered at a small fire department as well as adjunct instructor for Tulsa Technology Center EMS division. Brian met Jennifer and they got married in the fall of 2000. In 2009 Brian and Jennifer moved to DFW metro-plex and he began working at Parkland ER. Shortly after became full-time firefighter and paramedic at Frisco Fire Department. In the fall of 2014 Brian’s world would be turned upside down and his journey through the difficult world of mental health treatment would begin. Brian was always taught to never have, or talk about, emotions. He was told to just bottle it up and shoved it down deep for no one else to see. On night he was unable to control the demons and it was almost his last on this beautiful world. This is when his journey began. Almost 1 year later to the date Jennifer would experience one of the worst events she could imagine and get diagnosed with PTSD. When Brian saw what was happening to his wife, he started to figure out how to get the help he needed. Brian has always had a passion for helping people since he was young and has been heavily involved with peer support at his department, and helps lead the 3FTL peer support group classes. Brian and Jennifer have 2 beautiful daughters, Keaton and Tatum, and 3 four-legged kids. “I was 19 years old when my Granddad told me “If you do not have a WHY, then you have no purpose”. That stuck with me, and although it took several years to figure out my “WHY” I finally have it, and have my purpose. After 23 years as a first responder, I’ve been exposed to my fair share of trauma including several co-workers and friends suicides. I was mad at them for being selfish and cowards for taking the easy way out; then I had my turn. After going to the bottom of that hole and having family and friends help me get out, I never want to feel that again, nor do I want anyone else to feel that helpless. I will support my wife and her mission to do whatever it takes to make sure we don’t lose a first responder to suicide.”</image:caption>

<image:title>Meet Jennifer - Jennifer Halley</image:title>
<image:caption>Jennifer is the owner and president of 3FTL. She currently serves as the case manager and program designer for all first responders in the 3FTL program. Jennifer graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S., Northeastern State University with an M.S., and recently graduated with a second master's degree in Psychology from Grand Canyon University with an emphasis in trauma. Jennifer saw a need to develop a program that would assist first responders through their mental health treatment. After losing first responder friends due to suicide and watching the number of suicides daily in the first responder world climb, Jennifer developed a cross-functional, comprehensive mental health treatment team to serve local fire, police, and EMS departments so they can heal from the trauma experienced from serving their communities. She has been married to Brian, a local firefighter, for 21 years, and has 2 girls ages 13 and 8. In her spare time, Jennifer can be found at O'brate Stadium in Stillwater Oklahoma, watching college baseball. She also enjoys exercising and reading anything related to neuropsychology. “I made a promise to Mammie at Tony's funeral that I would do everything in my power, every breath I have, to not let another first responder, EVER die alone. I promised her and Tony's spirit that I would fight every day to reduce the mental health stigma among first responders and work my ass off to establish some sort of lifeline for them, so that no one suffers alone or must navigate the broken mental health world by themselves. I promised other first responders that I'd pick them up when they fall, I'd take their call in the middle of the night, I'd remove the gun from their hands or loosen the noose around their neck, because there is hope in tomorrow. We would give them that hope and make it as easy as possible for them to succeed and live the life that God intended them to live. This is why I get out of bed every damn day at 5am. This is why I fight. This is why I'm tired all the damn time. but I wouldn't change a thing, nor would I want to be any other place than right here, right now carrying out God's will for my life.”</image:caption>

She has dedicated countless hours to helping and bettering the lives of those in need, particularly the active duty, first responders, and veterans who put their lives on the line for American freedoms. She joins 3FTL with intentions of supporting fundraising efforts, events, and relationship development. "Having numerous friends that serve as first responders, I have seen the toll it takes on them and their families. It may sometimes be hard for them to ask for help, but it is critical that they get it. I want to help provide the tools and assistance they need. 3FTL’s tag line could not be more perfect, 'Saving the lives of those who save us!’ That is something I want to be a part of.” Melissa is a wife and mother of two boys.
